one of the ultimate jam bands
I first heard this song when i was 19 and living in Gilchrist Hall at Florida State. Someone sent it to me on a cassette mix and it blew my mind. At the time, i just thought it was cool song about love and stuff, but by age 22/23, i had moved to los angeles, where my scene turned all weird: all i wanted to do was lay back, chill out and listen to some tite jams like this one. there were plenty of lost, sunny afternoons. i went bra-less a lot and wore tom's of Maine patchouli scented deodorant. man, i even considered growing some gnarly dreads. good thing i'm a bigger asshole than all of that and swiftly moved into a funk/garage band phase around 24/25, leaving my tragus piercing in the dust. This song still stands tho. It's tite, and gives me good vibes. i also still have a crush on ginger headed dudes.

Dreamz
This song used to make me think of SEX when I was 7, when I didn't even know what sex was. But I did know that I totally was going to have Michele Pffeifer's figure when I grew up. At 31, I have neither SEX or Michele Pffeifer's figure. I wish I could time travel back to 1983 and make out with Maxwell Caulfield. Look at that sweater! That clean cut baby face!

Pumping up the Jam
For some reason, last week, I thought it was a good idea to put this song on my "work out" mix. Nothing says working out like creepy Donald Sutherland, bad wigs and heartbreak.
